ODU’ACCIMMA Plans Economic Summit
The President of Odu’a Chambers of Commerce , Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ODU’ACCIMMA ), Mrs Alaba Lawson, has said that the Chambers would host an economic summit before the end of 2013.
Lawson said this in her speech at the third Annual General Meeting of the Chambers held in Ibadan, recently.
She said, “We are organising an economic summit before the end of the year that will focus on agriculture where the stakeholders will brainstorm.”
The first attempt to form the Chambers was in 1989 when Ogun, Ondo and Oyo States came together before the creation of Ekiti and Osun States.
Lawson said that the mission of the Chambers was to actualise the vision of its forefathers in regaining the region’s lost economic glory.
She said that the economic summit would help in returning the region to economic buoyancy through agriculture.
The industrialist said that the summit would also engender strategies aimed at repositioning the South-West Zone.
Lawson recalled how the region recorded unparalleled achievements in commerce and agriculture when the South-West was recognised as the food basket of the nation.
