NSCDC To Strengthen Security On Infrastructure
The Nigeria Security and
Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reiterated its commitment to providing adequate security for government infrastructure in Cross River State.
State Commandant of the NSCDC, Dr Benito Eze, made the promise in Akamkpa, Akamkpa Local Government Area on Saturday at the inaugural stakeholder’s forum of the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel on Protection of Infrastructure in the state.
He said that providing security for government infrastructure was one of the mandates of the NSCDC, stating that the organisation would establish a security desk in Akamkpa to enable residents and investors get across whenever there was any security challenge.
He said NSCDC was the first to be called when two expatriates were kidnapped in Akamkpa in May 2013.
He appealed to the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel in the state to caution its drivers to curtail their reckless driving.
The Chief Mines Officer in Cross River State, Mohammed Ohize, said the state was blessed with abundant mineral resources.
Ohize said the ministry had maintained a cordial relationship with the security agencies to provide security for the movement and storage of explosives.
The Chairman of Akamkpa Local Government, Mr Denis Nkiri, commended the NSCDC for providing security for mines and steel infrastructure in Akamkpa.
