RSG To Restore Civil Servants Welfare Buses
Civil Servants Welfare Buses, which were grounded for some time due to mechanical problems, will soon be revived to convey workers.
The Rivers State Head of Service, Barr. Samuel LongJohn gave the indication at a send forth party in honour of Mr. Lambert Ekwueme, Permanent Secretary, and Service Welfare, who retired from the service after 35 years of meritorious service to the State.
Barr. LongJohn also said that other welfare schemes such as car/vehicle loans, provision of official cars for directors as well as regular capacity building programmes would soon be reintroduced to ensure improved welfare and service delivery.
He said the interest of workers was uppermost in his agenda which has the suspension of the Tenure Policy and the ongoing salary verification exercise, adding that when completed, would make more funds available to meet the welfare and training needs of workers as well as recruit more staff.
He eulogised the administrative qualities of Mr. Ekwueme who has been a pillar in the achievements recorded in the past six months.
HOS noted that with the recent retirement of the former Permanent Secretary in the Establishment Bureau, Dr. Rogers Weli, the Service had lost two of its experienced personnel within one week.
Barr. LongJohn urged serving officers to emulate them and make hard work and dedication their watchword.
Responding, Mr. Lambert Ekwueme, recounted his rise from the ranks to the peak as Permanent Secretary, and attributed his success to the cooperation of the staff he had come in contact with during his service years.
He expressed gratitude to them for their support and advised all staff to exhibit patience, honesty, accountability and transparency in the discharge of their duties.
