NBSF Prepares For Ghana Friendly
The Nigeria Baseball and Softball Federation (NBSF), has said that it intended to fine-tune its squad in a two-day tryout, in preparation for a friendly against Ghana on April 25.
Secretary of NBSF, Kehinde Laniyan, told newsmen in a telephone interview in Lagos that the programme would hold from tomorrow to Sunday in Port Harcourt.
He added that the encounter was part of the federation’s arrangements to keep the team in shape for future international engagements.
“The tryout is to select some players into the national team to strengthen the squad, ahead of the friendly match in Ghana.
“This match is just the beginning of innovative things we have in the pipeline for the development of the sport in the country.
“We decided to have a friendly with Ghana because they also have a strong team in the continent,” he said.
Baseball and softball were jointly pioneered by retired Maj.-Gen. Ishola Williams, Prof. Ndi Okereke-Onyiuke and Dr William Boyd on the nation’s sports scene.
