Jigawa Disburses N19m To Flood Victims
The Jigawa State Government last Thursday disbursed more than N19 million to families whose houses were destroyed in the 2012 flood disaster in Dutse local government area of the state.
The Chairman of the State Flood Disaster Management Committee, Alhaji Abdulkadir Jinjiri, said that 2,998 people would benefit from the state government’s gesture.
He said that N5,000 would be paid to families who lost a room while those who lost more than a room would receive N10,000, to mitigate their sufferings.
According to him, the state government has also distributed relief materials such as food items, mattresses, blankets and insecticide treated nets to the affected families.
In his speech, the Council Chairman, Alhaji Sanusi Abdulazeez, said that councillors and other personnel were deployed to various payment centres to facilitate smooth conduct of the exercise in the local government.
Abdulazeez urged the beneficiaries to utilise the money and rehabilitate their houses.
Malam Wada Tumba, one of the beneficiaries who commended the gesture, said that it would go a long way in alleviating the sufferings of victims.
