Surveyor Wants Road Map For Real Estate
A former President, Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV), Mr Charles Adebiyi, has called for a National Real Estate Forum to articulate a road map for the sector.
Adebiyi, in an interview with newsmen in Lagos, said that the forum would be a big platform of all stakeholders in the real estate sector.
“The forum will be made up of lawyers, builders, financiers, urban developers, artisans, manufacturers and importers.
“This is because the issue goes beyond housing as there are other uses to which land is put,” he said.
According to Adebiyi, the forum can be held every two years to discuss and share thoughts and ideas about solving the sector’s problems.
Adebiyi, who is also the Managing Director of Charles Adebiyi & Co, said that currently all institutions in the country were working at variance to the detriment of the sector.
He said that there was no way of articulating the institutions’ ideas for onward transmission to the executive and the legislature.
The former NIESV president said the sector needed something similar to the National Economic Forum.
Adebiyi said that the road map would detail where the real estate and the nation as a whole were going.
According to him, the nation has not issued any national land policy.
