Martyns-Yellowe Assures On Eradication Of ‘Ghost Workers’
The Rivers State Civil Service Commission, says the problem of ghost workers in the State civil service would soon be a thing of the past following steps taken so far to address it.
The Commission’s Chairman, Mr. Ngo Martyns-Yellowe gave the assurance yesterday in his office, while playing host to members of the Public Complaints Commission who were on a fact-finding mission to the Commission.
Mr. Martyns-Yellowe said that the problem of ghost workers had become a source of concern to the State Government, stressing that the commission had left no stone unturned to address it.
He said that the recent verification exercise conducted by the commission on civil servants was part of the strategies to address all the problems plaguing the service.
The chairman charged members of the commission to uphold utmost integrity as that was the only way issues could be dispassionately addressed.
He also commended the Federal Government for initiating the PCC, which, according to him, would help to address a number of injustices against Nigerians.
Earlier, the commissioner in charge of Rivers State in the Public Complaints Commission, Chief Stephen Ezekwem said that the visit was to interact with members of the Civil Service Commission with a view to getting itself acquainted with the workings of the commission.
Chief Ezekwem said that, the commission had been in the vanguard for the protection of the downtrodden in society, stressing that the commission was currently investigating some petitions.
