Kogi Motivates Female Players
The management of Kogi Confluence Queens has motivated the team to surpass its last season’s league performance as the 2012/2013 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) begins nationwide tomorrow.
Team Manager David Owolabi told Tidesports in Abuja that the monthly salary of the players had been increased from N20,000 to N40,000.
“Governor Idris Wada of Kogi has deemed it fit to increase the players’ salary from N20,000 to N40,000 per month to boost their moral.
“The salary was increased as a morale booster for the team to exceed the third position it reached last season.
“Also, their sign-on fees will be paid on time. If they win or draw any match, they will be paid and even if they lose, they will be encouraged,’’ he said.
Owolabi added the players had also been given their new kits for the start of the new season.
The team manager added that the team had been given the needed support to be in good spirit for the season and was not faced with any challenge.
“We don’t have any challenge now because the government has given us all that we need, so we are ready to go,’’ he added.
The manager recalled that the team finished third last season on the league table.
“I was the first in my group, and third overall last year but this year I want to top my group so that I will play among the 10 in the elite group in 2014,’’ Owolabi said.
He said that the team’s grouping with defending champions, Delta Queens of Asaba, would not get in their way.
