Firm Donates N.5m To Motherless Home
Addax Petroleum Company has issued a cheque of N500,000 to the motherless babies home in Calabar.
Presenting the cheque, the Community Relations officer of Addax Petroleum, Mr. Temidoyo Daibo, said the donation was part of their contributions towards the motherless babies under the Ministry’s custody, to improve their livelihood.
The commissioner of Social Welfare and Community Development, Barrister Inyang Patricia Endeley, appreciated Addax Petroleum for the gesture adding that it will go a long way to help government empower, and train these children to a greater heights.
Barrister Endeley thanked God for the lives of the motherless children in Uwanse who had been abandoned by their biological parents and confirmed that government had so much interest on them, that they are being trained in one of the schools in the state as well as giving them the same opportunity to enjoy all the privileges as other children in the state.
She said the Ministry was also partnering with other civil society groups to empower the abandoned children with love and care and revealed that some years ago, one of them was successfully married while the Executive Governor was the bride’s father.
Present at the occasion were, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Bridget Atsu, Mrs. Jackline Akpanke, Director of Administration, Mr. Thomas Ebong, Deputy Director of Social Welfare, Ms Elizabeth Ukuwak and the Special Assistant to the commissioner, Mr. Francis Aribiah.
