NDDC Plans 10 Roads In Aba
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has earmarked 10 roads for construction in Aba in 2013.Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State, said this in Umuahia last Wednesday during an interactive session with newsmen that the gesture would add to the facelift which the state government was giving to the commercial city.
“They (NDDC) have promised me that the project will be included in the budget for 2013. `
‘By the time we add these to what we are already doing, you will understand how the people will feel,’’ he said. Orji expressed the state government’s desire to sanitise the commercial city by combating environmental challenges in the area.
The governor regretted that the residents of the area compounded the challenges that faced the city. He expressed the government’s determination to demolish all structures that blocked waterways to forestall the decay of infrastructure.
“We want to sanitise the city and encourage the people to obey environmental rules and regulations.
“Any structure built on waterway shall be pulled down henceforth,’’ Orji said. The roads to be constructed by the commission include the one from Asaga Ohafia in Abia to Usukpam in Cross River and the one from Eziafor Ohafia in Abia to Biakpan also in Cross River.
