NPL Congress Holds Dec
The Congress of the Nigeria Premier League is expected to be held on December 10.
Following the dissolution of
the Victor Baribote-led NPL board by representatives of eighteen Nigeria
Premier League clubs, a six-man interim board committee has been set up by the
club to oversee the running of the League.
The committee is chaired by
Mike Idoko, along five other members who include: Alloy Chukwuemeka, Tony
Ogola, Alhaji Sabo Babayaro, Sule Chindo and Oscar Keke.
The clubs have now shifted the
date of the congress which was scheduled to be held tomorrow at Kano to
December 10.
The
decision is said to have been taken unanimously by representatives of the 18
clubs present there in Abuja. The venue of the congress is still unclear, as
some sources have stated that it will still be held in Kano, while others have
suggested that it may be shifted to Abuja.
In
a related development, Chairman of the interim committee Mike Idoko has urged
the NFF to admit Ocean Boys into the Nigeria National League (NNL) following
their expulsion from the NPL last season. He stated that the club was merely a
scapegoat of the league’s mal-administration last season.
