N350m RSNC Rotary Machine Underway
The Rivers State Government has approved the sum of N350 million for the procurement of rotary machine for the State Newspaper Corporation (RSNC), publishers of The Tide group of newspapers.
This disclosure was made yesterday by the General Manager of the Corporation, Mr Celestine Ogolo at a workers’ parliament marking the 41st anniversary of the corporation held at RSNC Corporate office in Port Harcourt.
Mr Ogolo said the machine which has the capacity of printing about 30,000 copies of newspaper per hour is expected to arrive Nigeria from the United States of America, next month.
The General Manager expressed hope that with the machine and renovation work being carried on at the place by the state government, there is a bright future for the corporation and commended the government for its determination to reposition the newspaper.
He however regretted that the recent fire incident that gutted part of the main building set the place back as according to him, even though no life was lost, many valuable property of the corporation were lost.
He particularly commended members of staff for showing strong commitment to duties.
A minute silence was observed in honour of six staff members who lost their lives this year and prayed God to continue to guide the family members they left behind.
Earlier, Pastor Lawrence Donatus charged the corporation’s workers to always view their coming to work at the place as God’s design and to always work with strong commitment and dedication as if they were working for their own private business.
The man of God urged workers to use the anniversary to take individual inventory of their contribution remarking that “God will require account of your effort to make the place prosper and legacy for which you would be remembered.
Highlight of the occasion was the peoples parliament session which provided opportunity for workers to as questions on any issue agitating their minds about the corporation and make observations on how to make the place better.
