Sunshine Stars Armbush Al Ahly In Ijebu-Ode
Ijebu Ode Stadium Abeokuta will be the centre of attraction
this weekend as Nigeria representative, Sunshine Stars of Akure play host to
visiting Egyptian giant, Al-Ahly FC in the first leg, semi-final of the 2012
CAF Champions League.
Considering the pedigree of Al-Ahly in continental game, it
is expected that the homers, Sunshine Stars will have a lot to contend with in
the game, notwithstanding that they are playing in front of their home fans.
Already, the crucial game has been tagged ‘Very difficult to
predict’ as both teams have been talking tough on how to outsmart each other.
Some of the Sunshine players interviewed recently assured
that they have raised their game and were looking forward to beat the six time
African champions, Al-Ahly of Egypt.
Collaborating with the players was the Chief coach, Gbenga
Ogunbote who disclosed that he has a compact team that can withstand any
opposition any day, any where, therefore confronting Al-Ahly of Egypt in Ijebu-Ode
this weekend will be no exception.
He, however, called on Nigerians to come out in their
numbers to cheer Sunshine FC to victory.
“In fact, I am very convinced that the massive support of
Nigerian soccer fans at the stadium will galvanise the Akure-based Sunshine
players to go for the kill against the visiting Al-Ahly of Egypt,” the one time
Dolphins assistant coach added.
Meanwhile, the second semi-final game would be between T. P
Mezembe of Congo DR and Esperance of Tunisia.
