RSG Assures On Rumuolumeni Road
Rivers State Commissioner for Works, Hon. Victor Giadom has assured that government would provide immediate remedial measures to alleviate the sufferings of road users along Rumuolumeni-Rumuepirikom road which work is ongoing.
Hon. Giadom gave this assurance Monday at a meeting he held with the Rumuolumeni youths in his office.
Sympathising with the people living at Rumuolumeni communities on the difficulties they encounter as a result of the on-going road construction, the Works Commissioner urged them to bear with the State Government as it strives to provide a solid and lasting road, directing the project contractors, Monier Construction Company (MCC) to provide temporary route for road users.
He urged the youths of the area to remove the blockage they placed on the road, saying that government would soon assist them with hard coarse for their other link road.
On the inability of the companies operating in the area to live up to their social responsibilities, Hon. Giadom disclosed that he had consulted Commissioner for Energy and Natural Resources, Hon. Okey Amadi on the need to hold a meeting with the companies to address the issue, explaining that Hon. Amadi has promised to hold the meeting on Friday.
He noted that power supply would be relatively regular by December when the power station near University of Education Rumuolumeni would be completed, stressing that the rains have hindered the pace of work on the project and added that the speed will increase when the rains subside.
He assured that the State Government will deliver a high quality road that would make them forget their construction sufferings while the road was on-going.
“The road we are building would be of impressive standard which would make it difficult for you to remember that you suffered hardship while the construction work was in progress.” he said.
