The Tide Rotary Machine Arrives, Soon
General Manger of Rivers State Newspaper Corporation, Mr. Celestine Ogolo says contract for the procurement of a rotary mechnine for the media organization has been awarded.
Mr. Ogolo who gave the hint when the executives of the Rivers State council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) paid him a courtesy visit in his office on Tuesday said that 30 per cent payment has already been made and the equipment being expected in the next four months.
He said despite the fact that the RSNC was playing host to the NUJ, it was indebted to the union in several ways, recalling the role it has played in bringing into limelight the several challenges facing the corporation which has led to the prompt attention being received from the appropriate authority.
Commenting on the renovation work going on at the corporation, he expressed the desire of management in providing a conclusive environment for the staff.
He called on the executive council to draw up and sustain programmes aimed at improving the performance of its members by co-opting corporate organizations in its activities so that the society at large would benefit.
Earlier, the chairman of NUJ, Mr. Opaka Dokubo had expressed happiness for the cordial relationship existing between the corporation and the union and pledged to maintain the status quo.
He also expressed gratitude to the Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi and the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari for the express action they took in resurfacing The Tide premises soon after the unfortunate fire incident.
“So much has been promised in the past but this one is exceptional and we hope others would be met with the same speed of lightening and dispatch,” he said.
