RSG Reassures On Quality Education …As 60 Students Graduate From Malaysia, Japan
The Rivers State Government, has reiterated its commitment in making the state the hub of education in the country.
The Commissioner for Education, Dame Alice Lawrence-Nemi, stated this at the graduation ceremony of Rivers State students in University of Malaysia.
Dame Alice Lawrence-Nemi said that education in the state is free and compulsory, adding that government has created an enabling environment for academic excellence through the provision of necessary infrastructures including ICT, sporting facilities and libraries in primary and secondary schools across the state.
“Rt Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, since assumption of office as governor of the state transformed the sector by awarding scholarship to deserving Rivers students of which you all are beneficiaries”, she emphasised.
The commissioner also charged the graduands to contribute their quota in the development of the state adding that as graduates they are now experts in their various fields of study.
Her words: “the government of Rivers State is expecting you to put all your knowledge into practice; you were sent here because the state wants to stop bringing in expatriates into our country. The purpose of our investment in you is for you to assist the government in reviving most of our dilapidated industries”.
The commissioner stated that Rivers State would become the hub of experts in the future because of the massive investment in human capacity development of youths assuring that the free education policy of the state government is yielding results.
The Tide gathered that about 60 students graduated from UCSI University of Malaysia and out of the number, 8 made first class in their various courses.
Also 52 students graduated from Kuban State University of Technology, Russia in which 10 had first class also.

Education Commissioner Seeks media collaboration in Rivers
The River State Commissioner for Education, Dr Peters Nwagor has called on media practitioners in Rivers State to deploy their various communication platforms toward promoting government programmes and policies aimed at achieving sustainable development in the education sector. Dr. Nwagor made the appeal when members of the Etche Ethnic Practicing Journalists (EEPJ) paid him a courtesy visit in Office in Port Harcourt. The Commissioner emphasized the strategic role of the media in shaping public perception, promoting government initiatives, and supporting policies capable of improving the quality of education and human capital development in the state.
