Manager Tasks LGAs On Tourism
The Business Developing Manager, City Mall Cinema, Mrs Kate
Attah, has stressed the need to reawaken
the 54 local governments in Lagos to identify the tourism potential of their
areas.
Attah made the call in an interview with our correspondent
last Saturday in Lagos.
She said that the city of Lagos had enormous tourism
potential that could be harnessed to boost its image.
“Some of the local governments do not know the tourism
potential that they have and we need to promote the tourism sector.
“We need to market our relaxation centres for tourism to
thrive,’’ Attah said.
She commended the effort of the Elegushi and Oniru families
on the recent tourism development in their communities (Lekki and Bar Beach).
Attah also commended relaxation centres in the city such as
Silverbird Gallery, Beach, City Mall Cinema, Museum Centres, Eyo Festival and
the First Story Building in Badagry and others.
“The need for proper maintenance and improvement of all this
centres are of paramount importance to the development of the sector.
“All these are great tourism and relaxation centres that the
local government can get revenue from,“ she said.
Attah stressed the need to build a body of locations that
were “must see’’ for every Lagosians and visitors to Lagos, which would help in
promoting the tourism sector.
“These wonders arenas will excite the residents as everyone
will be interested in the development in tourism and will deliver dividends to
the council areas,’’ she said.
Attah urged the local government chairmen to take advantage
of the tourism centres in their council areas to earn their revenues.
