Church Donates Vehicles For Empowerment
As part of efforts to alleviate the sufferings of the less privileged in the society, a Port Harcourt-based Christian organisation, Omega Power Ministry (OPM), has purchased vehicles to the public for commercial purposes.
The General Overseer of the Church, Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere who made the disclosure, while signing a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Neighbourhood Community |Bank for the distribution of interest free loans to members of the public, said that several widows in the state had been given sewing machines to enable them pay house rents.
Apostle Chinyere said that, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which gulp N100 million would witness an initial phase of One hundred thousand naira each to 14 beneficiaries.
According to him, OPM as a church was out to alleviate the sufferings of the people, noting that apart from the vehicles, several youths had been trained in Information Communication and Technology (ICT) and paint making while free schools had been built.
The OPM General Overseer used the occasion to urge the beneficiaries of the scheme to make good use of the loans to improve their lives.
Also speaking, the Chief Executive Officer of Neighbourhood Community Bank, Mr Folami Fawehinmi said that the bank which is certified by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) would sustain its cordial relationship with the ministry.
Mr Fawehinmi urged OPM to sustain the gesture as it would go a long way to solve the problem of poverty in the society.
Also speaking, Mr Obarilomate Ollor, the President of Divine Distributor, an arm of the church, and Chief Muti Offeh thanked Apostle Chinyere for the gesture, stressing that the situation was now a challenge to others do more for the society.
