Dame Amaechi Hails Female Chief Justice Appointment
First Lady of Rivers State, Dame Judith Amaechi has hailed Senate confirmation of Justice Aloma Mariam Mukhtar as Chief Justice of Nigeria, yesterday.
Dame Amaechi in a statement signed by her Media Assistant, Dike Bekwele last Thursday said the Senate’s confirmation of the nomination of Justice Mukhtar was a realisation of aspiration of Nigerian women.
She stated that Justice Mukhtar emergence has demonstrated that women possess the capacity to complement the menfolk in charting a new course for the country added, that the appointment will stir up goodwill for the nation and boost its image in the international community.
Mrs Amaechi reaffirmed women’s ability in accelerating rapid development of the country and added that there is no more barrier against women attaining full potential in their chosen profession.
“No doubt, women have excelle din their chosen profession including banking, corporate governnace, polictics among other, but the development in the nation’s judiciary is a pointer to the fact that there is gender equity and justice in the public service”, she said.
Mrs Amaechi, who extolled the virtue and integrity of the new Chief Justice of Nigeria, said the nation’s judiciary would witness a paradigm shift.
The Senate on Wednesday confirmed the nomination of Justice Aloma Mariam Mukhtar as the 1st Female Chief Justice of Nigeria, She will be inaugurated on Monday.
