Police Adopt News Measures Against Counterfeiting
The Lagos State Police Command would not relent in its war against counterfeiting, Joseph Jaiyeoba, the command’s spokesman, said in Lagos last Friday.
He noted that counterfeiting was not restricted to faking money or drugs, but also involved the faking of documents, receipts and certificates.
He said that the command had arrested a number of counterfeiters specialised in printing fake currencies such as the British Pounds Sterling, US dollars, the Euro and many others.
According to him, the suspects are currently facing trial and some others had earlier been prosecuted for such offences by the command.
The spokesman reiterated that the command, last week notified the general public, particularly motorists, of its intention to carry out a check for fake vehicle particulars.
Jaiyeoba said that the command would carry out the exercise, which would affect both motorists and motorcyclists, in collaboration with the Lagos State Motor Vehicle Administration Agency (MVAA).
