Moro Charges Keshi To Overrun Rwanda
The Minister of Interior, Mr Abba Moro, has charged the Super Eagles Head Coach, Stephen Keshi, to spell Rwanda with goals in the team’s forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifier (AFCON) in June.
In a news statement over the weekend in Abuja, Moro offered both personal and official support to Keshi who paid a courtesy visit to him in his office.
The minister expressed confidence in Keshi’s ability to reposition the Super Eagles, by returning it to its winning ways.
The statement said that the minister urged Keshi to reenact his feat in Togo, where he qualified the small West African country for the 2006 World Cup.
While extolling Keshi’s exploits as a player, Moro expressed faith that Nigeria would return to its soccer glory under the tutelage of the Super Eagles’ helmsman.
The minister said that football was important to the development of any nation as it was a game that had no language, ethnicity or religion helping to build one strong united nation.
He advised the coach to scout and groom players from the scratch “with a view to building a strong national team and an enduring football tradition in the country”.
The statement said Keshi told Moro that he was in his office to solicit both moral and financial support for the Super Eagles.
The release said that the coach assured the minister that he was already engaged in the task of building a formidable national team for the country.
