The Minister of labour and Productivity, Chief Emeka Wogu has assured that the subsidy Reinvestment Committee put in place by the Federal Government and headed by Justice Alfa Belgore will live up to expectation.
Also, the Committee will create a platform for labour and government to resolve the issues that came up after the announcement of the deregulation policy.
Commending labour for calling off its nationwide strike, street protests and mass ralies, Chief Wogu in a press briefing, also praised Nigerians for their tremendous sense of understanding while the strike lasted.
He declared: “I appreciate the display of patience and perseverance by labour in accepting to come and dialogue at the intervention of the National Assembly and a cross-section of other leaders”.
According to him, the decision that the fuel price should come down to N97 while full deregulation would continue is a good development and commended Nigerians for their support and prayers during the period of the strike.
The Minister noted that he was glad that all parties were ready to come before the committee, noting that labour had showed willingness and desire to come before the Belgore committee to resolve other labour-related issues.
“We thank the Nigeria labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress for their patience, perseverance for now because there is a lot that we need to talk about in terms of industrial relations that would impact on the people”. He stressed.
Wogu stated that due to the meaningful contribution made by some Nigerians, President Jonathan deemed it proper to review the pump price of fuel and promised Nigerians that the policy would improve their lives.
