The Ogun Command of Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), has warned motorists to obey all traffic rules and ensure safety on the roads.
The State’s Sector Commander, Mr. Oyeniyi Adeboye, told newsmen in Abeokuta on Tuesday that FRSC would not compromise its position of safety during the festival period.
He warned commercial drivers not to engage in any act that could endanger passengers and other road users, adding, “we all have right to the roads and we must respect that”.
The sector commander identified proper maintenance of vehicles, travelling by day and observances of traffic rules and laws among others, as factors that could reduce accidents rate on highways.
“We are also appealing to you not to take alcohol because your own live and that of others may depend on your composure while driving,” he said.
Also speaking, the Zonal Commander of the commission, Alhaji Garuba Danjuma, had earlier solicited the understanding of commercial drivers during “Ember Months”.
Represented by Mr. Christopher Ademoluti, Danjuma said that safety should not be left in the hands of the commission alone adding that that “safety is everybody’s duty and we must be up to it.”
