Oshiomhole’s Aide Wants Positions In Abuja Carnivals Scrapped
The Special Adviser to Edo State Governor on Art, Culture and Tourism, Mr Orobosa Omo-Ojo has called for the scrapping of positions to winners at future Abuja carnivals.
Omo-Ojo told newsmen on Monday in Benin that the Edo State Contingent at the 2011 Abuja carnival failed as a result of porous security network in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
He described the verdict of the organisers, which put Edo State below average in spite of parading more than 400 contingent, as a charade.
“The call for the scrapping of the first, second and third positions in subsequent outing has become necessary in order not to promote disaffection among participants.’’
Omo-Ojo absolved the state commissioner of the ministry, Mrs. Anina Jemitola of any wrong doing for reportedly hiring a consultant from the University of Benin.
“No consultant was brought through the back door, the ministry does not have official consultant, Edo contingent could not have done well if not for the consultant.’’
Our Correspondent reports that shortly after the carnival, a cross section of Edo contingent had criticised the state government for starving them of their welfare packages in Abuja.
They requested the commissioner in charge of the ministry to account for N9 million budgetary allocation for the exercise.
