FRSC Urges Drivers To Exercise Patience
The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Bauchi State has called on drivers to always exercise patience, especially when overtaking on a high way.
Malam Ibrahim Gaidam, the Public Enlightenment Officer of the Commission, said on Tuesday that exercising patience would help reduce carnage on the roads during the ember months.
Gaidam told newsmen in Bauchi that drivers should exercise patience at all times to avoid unnecessary road accidents.
He said that some drivers were of the habit of ignoring vital traffic rules and regulations by over-taking any how, even at sharp bends where they could not see on-coming vehicles.
Gaidam said that such drivers were mostly responsible for head on collisions of vehicles, especially on interstate roads.
He said, “The lack of patience on the part of some drivers is responsible for most head on collisions along our major roads.
“Such drivers do not have regard for their lives and that of the passengers they are carrying hence the recklessness they show by dangerous over-taking or over speeding.”
The FRSC official further said that the command was appealing to motorists to be cautious and respect traffic rules, especially, during the ember months.
He reminded motorists that whoever caused the death of another through carelessness would one day, pay for it.
He stressed the need for defensive driving, and said, “one has to be on the defensive while driving because if the other driver is reckless you should try to defend yourself by being alert and patient.”
