Cleric Tasks NASS On Abandoned Projects
A cleric has called on the National Assembly to enact laws that would prohibit the abandoning of projects in the country.
President of High Calling Life Outreach, Rev Steve Ogan gave the charge while delivering a paper titled “Integrity for Harnessing Nigeria’s Diversities for National Unity, Stability and Growth” at the second National Day Service of the first Baptist Church in Bonny.
Ogan reasoned that such law would stop government at all the levels from discontinuing projects half ran.
He ascribed the problem of retrogression in the country to the indiscriminate halting of projects midway.
“What we need now is for our legislators in the National Assembly, to enact an Abandoned Project Prohibition Act. This will encourage government at all levels to start and complete their projects. We need to sit down and evaluate our attitude towards the development of the country. In every state, we have issues of abandoned project,” he said.
He also advised politicians to desist from making promises that would be difficult for them to fulfil adding that making unredeemable promises to the electorate was inimical to the growth of the nation.
Rev. Olurotimi Olaniran, the resident Pastor who earlier described the nation’s Socio-ethnocultural diversities as an advantage noted that the proper harnessing of such diversities could place the country in an enviable position in the comity of nations.
Stating that Nigerians have made quite some progress in some areas of national life, he said that the unity of the country had not been without frictions and Squabbles.
