Ehiosun Ready For Dream Team: 2012 Olympic Qualifiers
Nigeria striker Ekigho Ehiosun has set his sights on helping Nigeria qualify for next year’s Olympic Games in London.
The Samsunspor forward, who is also a full international, is yet to get over Nigeria’s failure to reach the African Nations Cup, and said that that failure is fuelling his desire to be at the Olympic Games.
“It was a big disappointment for all of us when we lost the Nations Cup ticket. Everybody in the team was devastated,” Ehiosun said.
“But now, some of us have another chance to make Nigerians happy by qualifying for the Olympics and we don’t want to lose that opportunity.”
The forward is one of a host of Europe-based players Austin Eguavoen is counting on as he prepares to head for the CAF Under-23 tournament in Morocco, and Ekigho can hardly wait to get cracking.
“I’m just waiting for them to send my invitation. The club says they will release me if they get it on time. We have no choice but to do our best to qualify.”
The tournament kicks off on November 26.
