Total Trains 1,203 Youths In Skills Acquisition
No fewer than 1,203 youths from Rivers and Akwa Ibom States have benefited from the skills acquisition programme of Total Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited.
The scheme, which is part of the Memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the company and its operational areas, is to ensure the availability of a local pool of skilled technicians.
A statement by the company explained that the programme is aimed at empowering youths to enable them become self-employed.
It added that at the end of their training, participants would be able to engage themselves in different trades that would sustain them, their families and benefit the society.
In another development, Total Exploration and Production Nigeria Limited has organised this year’s open-day forum for secondary school students from Rivers and Akwa Ibom States.
The event is in line with the company’s effort at human capacity development and sustainable youths growth in its operational areas. The Companies public relations manager, Mr Norbert Ikwuazom said his firm organised the forum with the theme “character and learning” to provide participants an opportunity to be abreast of the company’s activities and also teach them the need to combine character and learning, which as put it, make one a balanced personality in the society.
Said he: “what we are here for is to enable them form the opinion of their future being. We see the child as somebody who should be balanced in terms of human development,” pointing out that when one is balanced both in character and in learning, he will have dignity and integrity.
