Commission Threatens Action Against Rumour Mongers
The Rivers State Local Government Service Commission, has threatened to punish any principal officer of any local government in the state who involves in rumour mongering.
The Chairman of the Commission, Chief Azubuike Nmerukini who said this at Degema while addressing staff of the council said that the Commission would not hesitate to punish any officer who send wrong data to the commission without verification.
Chief Nmerukini said that the visit to the council was to interact with the staff with a view to finding solutions to their problems.
In a similar development the Chairman of the Rivers State Local Government Service Commission has stresssed the need for partnership between the commission and the local government chairmen in the state to improve its services to the people.
The Chairman of the Commission, Chief Azubuike Nmerukini during a tour to Ikwerre Local Government Area also restated the commitment of his commission towards the improvement of services at the grassroot.
He stressed the need for both the political class and civil servants to work together to improve services to the people. In their separate speeches both the Chairmen of Degema Local Government Council, Chief Abiye Davies and his Ikwerre Local Government counterpart, Mr. Welendu Chijizumamhobu-Amadi described the tour as worthwhile as it would help to improve the system.
The chairmen also thanked Governor Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for the appointment of Chief Nmerukini as the commission’s chairman, and further urged the Governor to reconsider the proposed 10 percent deductions from council funds to fund the primary health sector.
