Three Okada Riders Plead Guilty Of Traffic Violation
Three commercial motorcyclists were on Monday fined N6,000 each, after pleading guilty to violating the Lagos State law prohibiting them from operating on the highway.
Chief Magistrate Oyindamola Ogala of the Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos warned the convicts to desist from committing the offences again.
She said that she would not hesitate to send them to prison if they were brought before her again for violating any of the state’s traffic regulations.
“This judgment is mild because of your plea that this court should temper mercy with justice,” she said.
The convicts, Ogbonaya Odili, 38, Nwali Nwinyinla, 48, David Augustine, 24, pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of riding on the highway and parking in an unauthorised place.
The prosecutor, Asp Inedu Effiong, said that the convicts were arrested for committing offences punishable under Sections 39, 68 (B) Cap 172, Vol. 7, Law of Lagos State 2003.
