RSG Partners OPS On Service Delivery
The Rivers State Government says it would continue to partner with reputable groups and the organised private sector to ensure improved service delivery to the people of the state.
The State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs Ibim Semenitari who said this in an interview with newsmen during the induction ceremony of the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt District 9140 at the weekend, explained that government alone cannot do everything.
The Commissioner commended the Rotary Club for its contributions towards polio eradication in the state and valuable support for the inmates of the Port Harcourt Chesire Home.
She also praised the Club for its high ethical standard, stressing that efforts would be made to ensure that the concept of the rotary for wheel test is internalised by the populace.
Also speaking, the new president of the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt District 9140, Rotarian Dominic Okafor said that the Club would continue to impact positively on the lives of the people.
Rotarian Okafor listed some of the achievements of the Club in the state to include donation of school furniture to the school for mentally challenged children, mounting of bill boards at strategic locations to create awareness on breast cancer, child and maternal mortality and continuation of the Club Micro Credit Scheme to empower low income businessmen and women.
Others were provision of potable water to two rural communities, the fight against polio, quiz competition among others.
Earlier, in her address, the outgone President of the Club, Rotarian Georgina Ngeri Nwagha thanked members for their support and appealed that the same gesture be extended to her successor.
