NAPEP To Recover N558m From Defaulters In Katsina
The National Poverty Eradication Programme (NAPEP) in Katsina State has set up a committee to recover N558 million debts from its loan defaulters across the state.
The NAPEP state acting coordinator, Alhaji Bashir Usman, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Katsina on Monday.
He said the loans which were in three categories included the multi- partner micro-finance, the farmers’ empowerment and village economic development solution loans.
He said under the multi-partner micro-finance, N390 million was disbursed to 1,000 associations, and that it gave out N163 million and N5 million under the village economic development scheme and farmers empowerment programme respectively.
“These are the three different loans we have given out to people in the state and we are now in the process of recovering them,’’ he said.
Usman said NAPEP had earmarked N95.6 million for the implementation of its third phase of Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) programme in 10 local government areas of the state.
He said no fewer than 500 poor families would benefit from the programme, scheduled to commence in early August.
