Boko Haram: Clergy Calls For Prayers
Worried over the recent swell in terror attacks by Islamic fundamentalist group, Boko Haram, a cleric with the Foundation Faith Church, Borokiri, Port Harcourt, Rev. Oliver Udioke, has called on Christians to pray for the country.
Rev. Udioke made the call in a chat with The Tide during a graduation ceremony for skills acquisition trainees organised by the Creative Foundation on Sunday in Port Harcourt.
The Christian cleric observed that considering the frequent bombings carried out by the group, the country needs divine intervention, which in his view, remains one sure path to finding a solution to the menace.
He noted that the nation was passing through a “challenging phase”, which requires intense prayers in order that the leaders may be able to handle the situation wisely.
Rev. Udioku expressed happiness over the recent success achieved by the National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the last elections, stressing that it was a welcome improvement from the previous ones.
Despite the success recorded during the elections, the cleric noted, “the country is still in a learning process. I believe we have not arrived there yet.”
The Foundation Faith Pastor urged INEC to commence early planning to check lapses observed in the last elections stating that it was one way to improving on the success it made during the April elections.
He however tasked the country’s leaders to rise to the challenge of national development by putting the needs of the people above their personal interests.
The cleric maintained that Nigeria is a blessed country considering the huge natural resources it has, pointing out that one way of harnessing the country’s resources is for leaders to keep their electoral promises.
