NULGE Flays LG Recruitment Exercise
Chairman, Ahoada East branch of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Mr Goodnews John has expressed concern over illegal employment of staff in the council.
John, who stated this in Ahoada recently, said he was particularly concerned about the recruitment exercise that took place in Ahoada East Local Government Area without due process.
The chairman, who described the alleged employment as illegal said such act negates the rules governing employment in the local government.
He listed the process involved in an employment exercise, saying that “any employment exercise that does not fulfil the due process required will be best described as illegal, and so may not be recognised by the union.
While commending the leadership of the council over the payment of staff salaries and provision of office accommodation for workers, Mr John expressed dismay over the disappearance of payment of overtime claim for security personnel and sundry staff who deserved it.
He disclosed that payment of promotion arrears, re-imbursement of expenditures by staff on official assignment and retraining of workers was lacking.
He also commended the worker’s commitment in the justconcluded general elections and asked them to do same during the forthcoming council elections.
The NULGE boss, however, enjoined them to remain focused and take their job seriously assuring that the union will do its best to regain lost grounds.
