Voters Registration: CRSG Threatens Sanctions
The Cross River Government says it will sanction any employee, who refuses to participate in the ongoing voter registration.
Mrs. Mary Olayi, the Head of Service of the state, gave the warning in a statement in Calabar.
The statement said that any civil and pubic servant, who failed to participate in the exercise, could loss their entitlement.
It said the state government took the decision because of the low level of participation in the exercise, adding that failure to register would attract “severe disciplinary actions” from the government.
The statement said the Chief Executive Officers and Heads of Departments had been mandated to release their subordinates for the exercise.
It enjoined the state employees to register and mobilise the people for the overall success of the programme.
In a related development, Mr. Patrick Ogbe, the state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, also warned that severe penalty awaited those, who planned to disrupt the voter registration in the state.
He appealed to all the residents of Cross River, who are eligible to vote, to participate in the exercise.
