Rivers UBE Warns Contractors On Project Completion
Rivers State Universal
Basic Board (UBE ) has charged contractors handling UBE projects across the 23 Local Governments Area (LGAs) in Rivers Stat e to ensure early completion of the projects or risk losing them.
Speaking during the bid opening exercise for the assessment of the 2007/2008/2009 Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) counterpart fund held at the Board’s head office in Port Harcourt recently, the Executive Chairman of the State Board, Sir Alli Oruitemeka appealed to prospective contractors to endeavour to live up to expectation, assuring that the board would continue to partner with outstanding contractors .
Represented by the board member 1, Hon. Lucky Ugochukwu Worluh, the chairman urged the contractors not to compromise quality in the course of carrying out their jobs and called on those who may not be successful at the end of the exercise to accept the development in the spirit of sportsmanship and never be deferred knowing that the exercise is all about luck.
He reminded the contractors that the assessment of future fund would be based on the early completion of the already awarded jobs, enjoining them to assist the board by making sure that they deliver the job on time and according to specification.
Sir, Oruitemeka, however, warned that the board would not hesitate to punish any contractor found wanting.
Also speaking, the Board Member 11, Hon. Dominic Planen, advised the contractors to ensure that jobs given to them are done accurately and on time, warning against the use of inferior materials for the jobs.
While urging those who may lose the job to see the bid opening exercise as a game of luck, Hon. Pianen noted that no erring contractor would go unpunished and called for their maximum cooperation.
