Rivers Still Hopeful To Win 17th NSF
The Public Relations Officer of Rivers State Sports Council, Mr. Barisi Wifa, has restated the states determination to win the forthcoming 17th National Sports Festival, NSF.
Wifa said that the states contingent for the festival will excel when the fiesta begins despite the series of postponements affecting the festival.
“Wifa made this known while speaking with sports writers at he Alfred Diete-Spiff sports complex, early in the week in Port Harcourt.
According to him, the state will be hosting to win. He said that irrespective of the shift in date Rivers State would not miss their target of coming tops in the 17th National sports festival billed to hold June, this year.
He continued that the state has gone through the first phase of preparations for the fiesta, adding that, the second phase will soon commence, awaiting the new June date.
“We have gone through the first stage of preparations ahead of the fiesta and in no-time, we will go into the next stage in order to enable the state team compete favourably with our counterparts in other parts of the country; he maintained.
It would be recalled that the earlier fixed date for the 17th National Sports Festival tagged “Garden City Games 2011” being November, 2010 later postponed to February, 2011 and June 29 – 19 July, 2011.
The Fiesta was postponed due to the present political activities in the country.
