NSC Moves To Resolve Crisis In Nigerian Football
The National Sports Commission (NSC) has appealed to the National Association of Nigeria Footballers (NANF) to withdraw its case in court by Monday.
The appeal was part of the resolutions reached with stakeholders after a reconciliatory meeting called by the NSC in Abuja on Saturday.
The resolution was signed by representatives of the parties in the dispute and made available to Tidesports source in Abuja.
It explained that the move was part of the decisions taken by stakeholders to finally resolve the lingering crisis in the Nigerian football.
“The reconciliatory meeting called by the National Sports Commission resolved that all lawyers to the parties should meet and work out the modalities of withdrawing the matters so that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) board can resume duty.
“The NFF should bring the two warring factions, the NANF and the Association of Professional Footballers of Nigeria (APFON) together,” the stakeholders resolved.
The meeting also agreed that the NFF board, on resumption, should as a matter of priority address the issue of reform in football administration in Nigeria.
NAN reports that the House of Representatives Committee on Sports had on Thursday convened a similar meeting to address the lingering crisis in the nation’s football.
