Ahead 17th NSF: Team Rivers Camping Successful – Wifa
The first phase of camping of team Rivers in preparation for the 17th National Sports Festival NSF, holding in Port Harcourt has been described as successful.
Secretary of Team Rivers, Mr. Barisi Wifa said at the weekend that potential medallists that would make the state proud were identified in the one-month exercise.
Wifa disclosed that the next phase of camping would involve multiple trial matches among members of the team to instill the spirit of competition.
According to him, the multiple trial matches would help in managing stage fright and work on the psychology of the team.
On when camping for the next phase would resume, Wifa said only Local Organising Committee (LOC) can decide when to go in or come out of camp.
He, however, disclosed that despite the closure of camp, the various associations were still training and preparing their athletes.
“The camping was successful as we were able to identify potential medallists that would make us proud.
“The next phase of our camping would be to organise more trail matches to improve on the standard because competition has a way of affecting the psychology of the athletes”, Wifa said.
