Nasarawa NDLEA Confirms Arrest Of 27 Drug Dealers
Nasarawa State Command of the National Drug Law enforcement Agency (NDLEA) past Thursday in Lafia confirmed the arrest of 27 alleged hard drug dealers.
Mr Iliya Ishaku, the State Commander, who made the disclosure to newsmen as part of activities to mark this year’s World Drug Free Day, said the suspects were arrested between January and June.
He said the command also recovered 56.1 kilograms of narcotics during various raids in different parts of the state during the period. Ishaku said that 10 of those arrested had already been convicted by the law courts and were presently serving various prison terms in the state capital while the remaining 17 persons were still awaiting trial.
He said the command also engaged in counselling drug users, especially youths many of whom were commercial motor cyclists, who used the drugs for enhanced performance in their business. Part of the activities to mark the ceremony included a road walk and a workshop which comes up on Friday.
