Mobil Builds Science Lab At GSS Ogu
Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN), operator of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation/ MPN joint venture, has embarked on the building of a science laboratory block for Government Secondary School, Ogu, Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area.
Gloria Essien-Danner, Executive Director, Mobil Producing Nigeria, disclosed this in an address presented on her behalf by the superintendent, shore base operations, Onne Oil and Gas zone, Captain Jimi Adu at the handing over ceremony of a set of computer donated to Government Technical College, Ogu.
According to the executive director, the company’s gesture is in line with the joint ventures interest in assisting government to develop the educational sector, adding that the project is expected to be completed and handed over later in the year.
In addition to the company’s efforts in the educational sector, she said health, environment and economic empowerment are other sectors that are of great importance to the joint venture in its community development programme.
She thanked the NNPC for its continuous contribution to the joint ventures community development efforts.
In another development, the venture was earlier commissioned and handed over to Government Secondary school, Onne, a modern library complex, fully equipped with educational books, generator and computer as part of its community assistance projects to Onne, Eleme Local Government Area, Rivers State.
“The project consists of a furnished library complex with offices and conveniences, a computer set for the school librarian, a 5KVA generator set for constant power supply, reading sections that can accommodate 60 students and shelves stocked with 950 textbooks in different subjects that meet the current school curriculum”, she explained.
