Two In Court For Impersonating Rivers SSG
A 35 years old man Lucky Bien and his friend Dickson Yiedeu have been arraigned before a Port Harcourt magistrate court for an alleged offence of Advance Fee Fraud, impersonation and cultism.
The two were alleged to have used the name of the Secretary to the Rivers State Government Mr. Magnus Abe to defraud members of the public of their money.
In the charge sheet made available to The Tide at the court premises in Port Harcourt, alleged that the accused persons had on the 18th of February 2010 at Mile 3 Diobu, defraud some one of the N103,000 under the pretence of using the money to bribe the Secretary to the State Government for a school building contract, an offence punishable under the Advance Fee Fraud and other related offences Act.
They were also accused of defrauding one Chief Engineer Nyeche Larry of the sum of N80,000 under the pretence of using it to bribe the SSG Mr. Magnus Abe for a contract to build a Model Primary School in the state.
Other charges include, threatening to kill Chief Engr. Nyeche Larry for demanding a refund of the money thereby committing an offence punishable under the Rivers State Secret Cult and Similar Activities Prohibition Law No.6 of 2004.
The presiding magistrate Ogeh E. Elkenah, however, ordered the case to be transferred to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for further legal advice.
The magistrate also adjourned the matter to the 1st of June 2010 for further hearing.
