Schools Board Boss Tasks Vice Principals On Exam Fraud
Vice Principals and Directors of Administrations in the various Senior Secondary Schools in Rivers State have been tasked to ensure a fraud-free West African Senior School Certificate and National Examinations Council Exams in the state.
The Acting Chairman of Rivers State Post Primary Schools Board (RSPPSHB), Chief, Godspower Ogbugo gave the order while speaking with journalists shortly after meeting with Vice Principals and Directors of Administration in all schools of the state.
Chief Ogbugo stated that the development is in line with the vision of the Ministry of Education and Rivers State Post Primary Schools Board to stop exams malpractice in schools.
He disclosed that the Ministry of Education and the Board have evolved measures to eradicate the menace in all the schools and advised perpetrators to desist, saying that anyone caught in the act would face the music.
The state Primary Schools Board boss said they are also checking the influx of students from neighbouring states, who use the state as ground to perpetrate all forms of exams fraud.
Chief Ogbugo condemned the act as anti-developmental, since it discourages students from reading thereby leading to poor performance in public exams.
According to him, any WAEC Supervisor caught extorting money in the name of helping the students to pass exams would be prosecuted.
He disclosed that a similar warning has also been issued by the state Commissioner for Education, Dame Alice Nemi, as it would no longer be business as usual.
Already, the ministry has constituted an examinations monitoring team made up of journalists and some selected public-spirited individuals from the state.
