Zamfara Hands Over N500m Orientation Camp To NYSC
The Zamfara Government on Friday handed over a N500 million Orientation Camp facility to the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) as its permanent camp at Tsafe, near Gusau.
Governor Mahmuda Shinkafi told the Director General of the NYSC, Brig.-Gen.Maharazu Ismail Tsiga, made the handing over at Tsafe near Gusau during an inspection of the camp.
He confirmed that all the major works at the project site had been completed and ready for use.
The governor said that the gesture was aimed at making corps members posted to the state to be reasonably comfortable to discharge their responsibilities during their service year.
Shinkafi said that the state government was awarding a new contract for the provision of parade ground and other facilities that could enhance proper para-military training at the camp this year.
He also assured the director general that the state government would not reject any corps member posted to its organisations and will offer employment to outstanding ones after their service.
Earlier, the director general thanked the state government for its support to the NYSC and urged other states to emulate Zamfara.
He, however, appealed to security agencies in the state to keep vigilance on the movement and activities of the corps members so as to provide adequate security for them.
Tsiga also charged the corps members to utilise economic empowerment apparatus made available by the federal and state governments to develop their talents for self reliance after the service.
The director general noted that there were multiple opportunities in the country for those young men and women who wanted to prove their talents and develop their skills.
