Kalusha Tips Eagles For ANC Title
Despite watching his Chipolopolo hold the Super Eagles to a 0-0 draw on Wednesday, Football Association of Zambia President Kalusha Bwalya has tipped the Nigerians to lift the title.
Kalusha, former Zambia captain and currently a member of FIFA’s Technical Committee added a caveat however, saying the Eagles must put some cohesion in their game to come out tops in Africa.
“Absolutely. I think Nigeria can win the Nations Cup,” Kalusha told Tidesports’ source after the game in Durban. “They have got some strong individuals, like Yakubu and Mikel.
“And if you look at those individuals, I believe they can put their hands on the trophy. But they have to find the coordination and the cohesion among those individuals.
“We saw them do it in the second half against us and they were in control. If they can find that, they can win it.”
Although the game was just a tune-up kick about for both teams, Kalusha, who skippered Zambia to that 1994 Final against Nigeria, conceded that no quarters were asked, nor given by either side.
“It was a good match. I thought the game was tough. Our boys did very well in the first half, but things got tougher in the second half and I thought Nigeria were in control. Both teams had their chances and anyone could have won it.
