N’ Delta Queen To Promote Peace In The Region
The new Niger Delta Queen Amadi Princess, has promised to embark on programme that will promote peace in the region.
Queen Amadi Princess who said this in an interview with newsmen shortly after emerging as winner of the Miss Niger Delta 2009 beauty pageant in Port Harcourt said that peace is the only ingredient that will bring sustainable development in the region.
Amadi Princess who hails from Rivers State defeated seventeen other contestants to emerge winner of the beauty contest.
Meanwhile, a member of the House of Representatives Honourable Asita has called for mechanisms that will ensure that sustenance of the programme in the region.
Honourable Asita who represents Ahoada West Ogba Egbema/Ndoni Federal Constituency in the lower chamber of the National Assembly said that the event had shown that Niger Delta is rich in all ramifications.
In his welcome address, the president of Miss Niger Delta Organisation, Prince Sodin Akiagba said that the event which started in 1999 has produced eight beauty queens who have used their offices and positions to touch lives as well as promote positive transformation in the region.
According to him, the Miss Niger Delta annual events are organised with great respect for the rich cultural values and tradition of the Niger Delta people.
