Body Building Federation To Go For Young Talents
President of the Body Building Federation of Nigeria (BBFN), Mr Soye Elekima says the Federation has concluded arrangements to groom young talents for the coming World Children Fitness Championship to be held in Slorakia.
Mr Elekima disclosed this recently in an exclusive interview with Tide sports in his office in Port Harcourt.
According to him, the body would embark on a “Catch-them-young” programme, creating zones from Lagos, Enugu, Abuja and Rivers States, going to primary and secondary schools to get children for screening exercises ahead of the world fitness championship.
“Even as children, I would groom them to win laurels for the country. Though, we do not have kids in such capacity now, I do know that they would adopt fast”.
“I trust Nigerian children, just instruct them on what to do and they would beat those outside the country who have been in the sport”, he said.
Elekima continued that “with video tapes, getting the kids acquainted with the movement of the body and the flexibility aspect of it is all that is needed and the team is set”.
He revealed his intention to start with kids who are into beauty peagent already, saying that they are already exposed and would therefore do better.
The fitness boss stated that after series of screening exercises, about 7 children, which is his target, for the championship, next year June, would be picked.
