National League Draw Holds Today
The draw for the 2009/10 Season of the Nigeria National League will be held in Abuja today.
Secretary of the National League, the second–tier of the nation’s domestic football, Ayo Rahman said on Wednesday that the Draw will hold alongside the usual season–opening seminar organized by the Nigeria Football Federation for officials of the clubs.
The lead topic for the Seminar which holds at the Bolingo Hotel and Towers is ‘Developing Football and the Quality of Nigeria National League’, to be treated by FIFA Advisor and NFF Technical Consultant, Chief Adegboye Onigbinde.
A sub–topic, ‘Facing the Challenges in Preparing and Administering Professional Football Clubs in Nigeria’, will be discussed by various resource persons at the seminar.
The Nigeria National League is made up of 32 Clubs, 16 in each of the two divisions.
To compete in Division A in the new season are FC Taraba of Jalingo, El –Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri, Adamawa United of Yola, Dallatu United of Gusau, Jigawa Golden Stars of Hadejia, Plateau United of Jos, Babanawa FC of Offa, Supreme Court of Abuja, Mighty Jets of Jos, FC Abuja, JUTH FC of Jos, Nasarawa United of Lafia, Spotlight FC of Katsina, FC Lokoja, Ajiya Babes of Hadejia and Dabo Babes of Kano.
In Division B are Bussdor FC of Owerri, Prime FC of Oshogbo, Delta Force of Ogwashi –Uku, First Bank of Lagos, Gabros International of Nnewi, OUK of Umuahia, Julius Berger of Lagos, Crown FC of Ogbomosho, Bendel Insurance of Benin, Anambra United of Nnewi, UNICEM Rovers of Calabar, Akwa United of Uyo, Rising Stars of Akure, Gray International of Oshogbo, Anambra Pillars of Nnewi and Bukola Babes of Ilorin.

Iwobi Optimistic On S’Eagles Qualification
Iwobi spoke to Tidesports source ahead of Nigeria’s crunch playoff semi-final against Gabon on Thursday, November 13, in Rabat, Morocco.
The 28-year-old was reacting to Nigeria’s shaky World Cup qualifying campaign that saw the Eagles finish second in Group C behind South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.
“We’ve managed to rescue ourselves from the dead,” Iwobi told Tidesports source.
We know we have the players and the abilities to compete against any other country in the world.”
The Fulham star pointed to Nigeria’s star power, highlighting African Footballer of the Year winners Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen as proof of the squad’s quality.
“We have last year’s African best player (Ademola Lookman), the year before that (Victor Osimhen),” he said.
“It’ll be a shame if we don’t make it, but we have a lot of confidence. We just have to prove it to ourselves.”
Nigeria’s path to the United States, Canada and Mexico has been turbulent, with two coaches departing during the early stages of qualifying before Éric Chelle steadied the ship to steer the Super Eagles into November’s CAF playoffs.
Four nations from the continent – Nigeria, Cameroon, DR Congo and Gabon – will vie for a solitary spot to compete in next March’s inter-confederation playoffs, with a view to joining the already nine qualified African nations at the Finals.
It would mark Iwobi’s second appearance at the World Cup Finals and the Super Eagles’ first since the 2018 edition of the competition.
Back then, Iwobi featured in all three games as Nigeria was knocked out in the group stage.
