Salisu Yusuf has been appointed the new coach of Nigerian Premier League side Kano Pillars.

“Yes, I have returned to Pillars and will resume work on Monday,” Yusuf confirmed to Tidesports source.

Yusuf was one of the assistant coaches at the Fifa Under-20 World Cup in Egypt, where Nigeria were eliminated in the round of 16.

The former Ranch Bees midfielder was also assistant coach to Kadiri Ikhana when Pillars won their first-ever league crown two seasons ago. Last season, he was head coach at Premier League side Lobi Stars of Makurdi.

Yusuf replaces Ivo Sajh, who was suspended until further notice by Pillars for “uncomplimentary utterances” against the club management.

Pillars are yet to make an official statement on the fate of Sajh, but everything points to the Kano club sacking him even though his contract runs until next June.
