Heartland Striker Eyes double Victory Over Mazembe
Heartland striker Uche Agba is angling to see his side inflict home and away defeats on TP Mazembe in the two-legged CAF Champions League Final, starting with the first leg this weekend at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.
The 23-year-old has scored six goals so far, and cracked home the winner when Heartland thumped Kano Pillars in the second leg of the semifinal in Kano.
He remains confident he will add to his tally and equal Pillars Victor Namo’s seven goals before the competition rounds up.
“I’m praying for two things, one is that we’ll beat Mazembe home and away and the second thing is that I will be among those to score,” he said.
Acknowledging that Mazembe are no push-over’s, the left-footed player said Heartland are the tougher of the two sides.
“They (Mazembe) are strong and that can account for why they are in the finals. But, you see apart from the government motivation, we the players have decided we want to win the trophy. That is very important. We need that trophy and we praying to God to grant our request.”
Heartland are now back to their ‘miracle’ camp at Nnewi hoping to return as always a formidable force before their opponents this weekend.
The team brushed over their Nigerian counterparts Kano Pillars with a 5-0 aggregate in the semifinal two weeks ago.
